Areas of Specialty: Retirement Planning, Retirement Income & Decumulation Planning, CPP and OAS Optimization, Tax-Efficient Withdrawal Planning, Pension Analysis, Second-Opinion Planning

Ziad is a fee-only, advice-only financial planner and the founder of Providential Financial Planning. He works with Canadians age 50 and over who are approaching or entering retirement and want clear, unbiased advice on how to turn their savings into sustainable, tax-efficient retirement income—without being sold financial products or commissions.

Ziad typically works with individuals and couples who are within 5–10 years of retirement or recently retired and feeling uncertain about key retirement decisions. Many clients come to him unsure whether they can afford to retire, how much they can safely spend, or how to make their money last while minimizing taxes and avoiding OAS clawback.

Clients commonly seek his help with questions such as:

  • Can I afford to retire now, or should I keep working?

  • When should I start CPP and OAS?

  • How should I draw down my RRSPs, TFSAs, pensions, and non-registered savings tax-efficiently?

  • How much can I safely spend each year in retirement?

  • How should government benefits, pensions, and investments work together as one retirement income plan?

Ziad’s work focuses on retirement and decumulation planning, CPP and OAS optimization, tax-efficient withdrawal strategies, and defined-benefit and defined-contribution pension analysis. He often works with DIY investors or clients who already have an investment advisor but want independent, advice-only planning or a second opinion before making important and often irreversible retirement decisions.

Ziad does not provide planning for operating businesses, rental properties, or trusts, and is happy to refer those situations to other professionals who specialize in those areas.

Ziad has worked in the Canadian financial services industry since 2012 and earned the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) designation in 2016. He works with clients virtually across Canada, providing independent, fee-only advice designed to help people approach retirement with clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.
